Staff Sgt. Jacob Murphy, a crew chief with Marine Light Attack Squadron 367, "Scarface," speaks with the pilots of the UH-1Y Huey, May 5. In addition to communicating with the pilots, Murphy mans the .50-caliber heavy machine gun on the helicopter.
The new ballistic face shields worn by air crew, as far as I know it only incorporates communication and can incorporate a oxygen supply for higher altitudes, but as I understand its only warn by non pilot aircrews, so gunners and people who are not in the cockpit. If you ask me, it looks quite badass to be honest.
