Do I spy an SR25 in the foreground or is that some AR-10 variant I am unaware of?

My guess is that it's a M110 SASS.

What's the protocol on showing unit and name patches in photos? I read somewhere during my wannabe studies that they had to be blurred or otherwise concealed. Then again, I'm not sure if this account is a privately-set up thing or an official PR device. Great images either way!

Can I ask why they Sit instead of being in a prone position?

If you look at there plate carrier they have quite a bit of kit on the front, this would make it very hard to lie prone comfortably or with the stability needed to fire accurately.

With those weapons, aren't they more like designated marksmen than a sniper team?

The M110 is now an official sniper rifle within the Army's arsenal. The EBR would be used as a designated marksman rifle/ Spotter's rifle. The name of the game now is not only accuracy, but faster follow up shots.

A sniper is a sniper, no matter what he uses. The weapons may be called "designated marksman rifles" but the one using them is usually a sniper.

Don't let a simple, albeit cool photograph sway you into enlisting. Its a serious decision and one that should not be taken lightly. That being said, you should not allow your family to coerce you from shying away from a potentially great career in the Armed Forces. More than likely they'll see what an astounding young man or woman you've become being away just for a few months for basic training. If they can't accept you after that, then, pardon my forwardness, fuck 'em.

Agreed. I tried to enlist myself after high school, but they didn't take me because of some problems with my spine i wasn't even aware of. If not for that reason, i would totally be a Ranger right now! But, you can't win'em all i suppose. But even if these guys don't know it, (and i know it doesn't help them) i have their back here at home, and i will show my support for ALL the brave men and women of the armed forces!

I'm pondering if it's annoying to do things while wearing those gloves. They look a bit clumsy.

if you don't wear gloves in an environment like that, your hands would be cracked and bleeding in days from all the dust and sand.

A little temporary discomfort is much preferred to days/weeks of agony due to the alternative of not wearing them.
Also, the only uncomfortable thing in that entire uniform is the kneepads. Those things never stay up.

Again, just asking if they are uncomfortable or not, I already know the purpose they serve.

And I already got my answer. :)

:iconlucifersangelfeather:
well, all depends on the gloves they use, but I have tried those, and the only time they really get in the way, is when you need to open a tight water bottle xD
but they can complicate things sometimes, but there are apparently a few prototype skin-tight gloves in the works somewhere, that should isolate just as well.
So heres hoping for a future with better bottle opening gloves :D

the dust camo'd rifle is either the MCR or the SR-25 semi-automatic sniper rifle with I believe is using lapua magnum rounds, suppressor, bipod, and a 12x scope...right?

badass photo!!

lol, too many video games for you.
I don't like to speculate too much on the multitudes of possible AR10 models that could be but I'd think it would be a Mk11, an SR-25 is essentially the same thing though. They fire 7.62, and speculating on what power scope they're using is just silliness.

nah, in ways you can tell, plus the standard sniper round magazine are lapua magnum's anyway, plus the style of the scope says it all, i just wanted to know if it was correct. i do play a lot of video games, however, i usually guess them anyway, i did it to my friend in the army with a photo of gun rack and got 82% of them right. LOVES MY GUNZ!! ^_^

lol wat? Lapua magnum isn't that widely used yet, 7.62 is the only round the MK11 fires. My point is that flaunting gun knowledge makes you look a little silly, particularly if you pick it up from games.
