Soldiers assigned to Commando Battalion, 7th Iraqi Army Division, "stack" outside a Black Hawk helicopter, while practicing proper procedures for exiting an aircraft outside Camp Khalid June 26. The IA soldiers, along with soldiers of 2nd Platoon, Company B, 1st Bn., 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 1st Advise and Assist Brigade, 82nd Airborne Div., conducted an air assault operation outside the town of Rawah in search of explosives production facilities.
I find it funny how casually we talk about weapons of death. I do not envy these men, the sacrifices they have to make is one that none of us can imagine. Can you imagine being told that you have to kill a man that you don't know. That is a heavy trip dude. The photograph is great though.
That's because M4's fire a 5.56 and suck at penetration. If the Government can supply a 7.62 in mass quantity then let them. It will pierce body armor and drop your target. Plus the AK is the most hardy gun in the world. You can bend the barrel then hammer it back into place and it will fire straight without a misfire, as well it works well in cold, desert and swamp environments.
Why don't the US give them M4's if they want them to have some proper protection?
