I was always wondering what that "striped" piece of equipment was. Hard to explain but it's what they have on their back. Is it just a piece of clothing or does it have some kind of metal/kevlar "shield" (saw that in Black Hawk Down, the scene where they prepare the equipment for the assault) so that they don't get injured if fired in the back. Sorry for my lack of knowledge...
The 96th GCTS gives Security Forces airmen, and sometimes airmen from other specialties, refresher/advanced training in ground combat skills before they deploy to combat areas. Helps to get them out of a law enforcement mindset into a combat mindset.
